Some common questions…

  • We are about 20 minutes drive from the nearest sealed road (well sign posted) and without a booking you run the risk of a wasted detour.

We are quite busy during the dry season and recommend you contact us in advance about availability.

  • The property sits on the Daly River floodplane and is not accessible during the wet season (Nov-March).

Subject to weather conditions the property is open April-October. Please contact us to find out of the property is likely to be accessible during your planned visit.

  • Yes - we do. We don’t charge for electricity unless you use it.

The onsites have slabs to accommodate larger vehicles for longer periods of time.

  • We do have some rainwater and we also pump water up from the river (recommend boiling before drinking and is not very tasty and tastes like croc poo). Washing is no problem.

We generally recommend bringing your own drinking water if possible.

  • No - because of the vegetation and site safety, we do not permit ad hoc fires.

The good news is that we have a couple of designated areas where there are established camp fires and safety equipment, including a beautiful fire/BBQ pit near the river.

The fire pit is the best place to be at the end of a day of fishin’.

  • You can fish the river, although the banks can be quite high (and have soft edges) and care is required. We do not have a boat ramp, but there are nearby ramps where you can launch if you wish.

Our best fishing location is our private billabong (oxbow lake), which you can reach via short hike (or we can run you out there). You can either fish from the bank at certain locations or rent one of our “tinnies” (small boat), either for fishing or for wildlife/bird watching.

Any boating or fishing activities undertaken on the site are strictly at your own risk.

  • It’s the tropics. Anything goes. But during the dry season the days are mostly warm and the nights are cooler.

It can certainly rain though… a LOT.

  • Malaria and dengue are not common in the area but bringing insect repellent for the evenings is recommended.

  • There is a LOT of wildlife on the property. You basically can’t walk 5 feet without bumping into a critter.

There are snakes on the property but they are mostly shy - though there are plenty of pythons about! It’s Australia, we have lots of creepy crawlies but nothing to worry about, just don’t leave your shoes outside at night.

When you come to Perry’s, you are in “croc” country and you cannot swim in the water and care must be taken around all waterways, especially when fishing. If you want to cool off, that’s what the pool is for!

    Always be “croc wise”.

  • You can reach us anytime via our contact page or email. We aim to respond quickly—usually within one business day.
